Repairing the World
(Arnie Davidson - with Eric Lichter)

During the Israel-Gaza war in 2008-09, I was struck with both the distance, and connection that we can feel through the medium of TV.
Repairing the World

Smoke plume rising from the street
Dark clouds laced with fear
Timid rays of sunlight peek
Through the hate, can’t hear myself
I’m crying, crying
From a distance we can doubt
We’re all parents, children, just living our todays
But our time is timing out
To change, God willing
Create a new tomorrow that looks different, better
It’s time to start repairing the world.
Sirens wail on my TV
They seem to be so far away
Angry flash wakes up my street
Guns and power, reminders night and day, I’m frightened
Time to reflect
Our light in darkest places
The smile of children’s faces
The hope of warm embraces
We can change, we are the change
It starts with me, begins today
I can turn the night to day, night and day I’m trying
We’ve got things to figure out
We’re all parents, children, just using up todays
As our time is timing out
We’ll change hope willing
Create a new tomorrow that looks different, better
We’ll start, begin repairing the world.
Repairing the world, repairing the world.
Time to reflect
Our light in darkest places. The smile of children’s faces
The hope of warm embraces
We can change we are the change
